Genuine Interest in the University /College:  
  • Campus visit and tour
  • Inquire about majors, programs and coursework
  • Explore extracurricular opportunities (e.g., Sports, Clubs, Greek Life)

Student Involvement in High School:

  • Extracurricular activities (e.g., Clubs and Sports)
  • Work experience


The "Extra Something"  
  • With al lthe qualifies applications coming in, colleges are frequently looking for the elusive "extra something" that can set a student apart from the crowd.
  • This can be any number of things;
    • job experience
    • involvement with a certain group
    • extra enthusiasm
    • thought put into student essay
    • financial hardship
    • English as a second language
    • Serious health problems
